National Press Release of Singing the Sky Blue

Elizabeth Montgomery, Singing the Sky Blue
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 03, 2013

Nashville-based recording artist Elizabeth Montgomery is pleased to announce that a CD release party for her upcoming album, “Singing the Sky Blue,” will be held on Sunday, September 15th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Dance World of Nashville (630 Rundle Avenue). The music and dance event is free and open to the public, and will feature dancers, a performance by Montgomery, and food and desserts will be available.
“Singing the Sky Blue” is a 1940′s themed recording, filled with uplifting songs in a big band style. The album includes such memorable classics as “Sunny Side of the Street,” “The Sound of Music,” “Moon River/Blue Moon,” “What a Wonderful World,” “I’ll be Seeing You” and more.
Produced by Robert White Johnson (Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Martins, BJ Thomas), the album’s first single, “I’ve Got the World on a String,” has captured the attention of Nashville’s dance community. A signature dance was created by respected Nashville choreographer, Barry Amato, and plans are being made to launch the dance in Europe this fall in conjunction of Montgomery’s appearance at an event in Paris.
“I am so excited about the release of the long awaited CD, ‘Singing the Sky Blue,'” said Montgomery. “I invite you to come with me on this journey and we will recapture the beauty and elegance of an era in our history when America was bustling with music and dance.”
Montgomery’s singing career almost didn’t happen. For the first fourteen years of her life, Montgomery spent much of her time in hospitals, enduring an extremely serious lung condition that was thought to be terminal. After a miraculous healing, she was determined to make up for lost time and pursue music. As a teenager, Montgomery recorded a Gospel album – the first of nine. Classically trained, she has performed numerous operatic roles including “Twelfth Night” and “Hansel and Gretel,” and she has traveled throughout the U.S., Europe and Central America, with over 3000 performances to her credit.

Music to lift your spirits…

Elizabeth_OfferOne of the reasons I chose my soon-to-be-released album “Singing the Sky Blue” to be a 1940’s themed album is that I admire how music changed the mood of a difficult period America faced in the 1940’s.  You see, World War II was happening, it was about the time that Anne Frank went into hiding, women were working at home and for the first time in factories to support the war effort and things looked grim. However legendary greats such as Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie, Rosemary Clooney and others were using their gifts with Big Band sounds to create music to lift the spirits of our troops and our folks back home.  Big band music is toe tapping, heart dancing stuff. I loved recording songs like Moon River/ Blue Moon, Sunny Side of the Street, and so many more, just singing them makes my heart smile.  The 1940’s were a period that our country and people faced so many hardships, not unlike the difficulties we face today, but when we focus on what is good in the world, when we share the blessings of what we do have, our hearts and minds begin to encourage each other.  Isn’t it important to choose what you put in your sphere? I encourage you to turn on music that is uplifting, fun, and with messages of encouragement and hope.  My music is the way I share the hope that I have and I hope that you’ll share the fun I had in making it in your home, cars, and work spaces.

Our release date in early September is getting nearer, the last remastering of a song is almost complete. We’ve shot the cover, we’re creating dates for the first concerts into 2014, and so enjoying that churches, organizations, and events are calling to plan 1940’s style dinners, dances, and gatherings to encourage their members and to bring fun to what is a difficult time for so many.   How fun it is to hear the plans as groups share with me how they will create an evening for families or couples with the music from “Singing the Sky Blue”  I’ll share pictures and ideas as we go, for I know you’ll enjoy them too! Here’s a listen that you may download in exchange for being on our “Good News” newsletter.  I hope to share the journey of “Singing the Sky Blue” with you as we travel around the United States and Europe. I hope you’ll enjoy my music and I’d be delighted to come to your area too! Just ask, and we’ll work with you to make it happen!

Best,

Elizabeth

Driving Home

2013-06-25 18.51.31It’s a beautiful day as I drive from Oklahoma and North Arkansas back to Tennessee. It’s been an adventure along the way and I love days like this.  We’re finalizing plans for the album Singing the Sky Blue and I cannot wait to share it all with you! I hope that you’ll be encouraged and uplifted by it. Did you know it’s an album of songs from the 1940’s era? I love the big band sound and the beauty of the horns and woodwinds. It was just a blast to record and the costumes for our upcoming tours are so fun! I can just imagine dinner gatherings for all church events, organizations who want to have a fun fall or spring event featuring the 1940’s theme and of course, all the opportunities to share hope when things are hard for so many people.

Will you help me spread the word? We’re so excited about all that is coming together and I hope you’ll come to the events as well as spread the word I am available for events for your organization, church, or event. The calendar is already filling for the holidays and spring 2014, how thrilling this is to me!

Blessings!

The Video Shoot

Sunday afternoon we gathered in Nashville’s Dance World with the amazing Barry and Dari Anne Amato.  How fun was it to see the dancers arrive and learn the new dance to my music.  The mood was fun and light and it was just amazing to see how coordinated the teams were as lighting, cameras, microphones and music were brought into the space.  How fun it was to see my dreams coming true as the dancers learned the new dance to my song and to watch as it came to life! Here are a few pictures behind the scenes!

Oklahoma summer…

I am having such a great time here in Oklahoma.  I just finished my tour to Grand Lake, now I am in Oklahoma City.  The last stop will be Grand Lake again and Arkansas.  I miss many of my friends and family.  I guess we never get away from our roots… “There’s no place like home.”
